Funny People

Last night a buddy of mine was having flight troubles and feared he would be stuck in Philadelphia. Here is the conversation that ensued today when i followed up to make sure he got home. It made me laugh, how about you.

Gekius: you make it home?
Co-Worker: yeah after sitting on a plane in a middle seat next to a fat black chick for 6 hours
Co-Worker: 6 and a half
Gekius: was she hot?
Co-Worker: yeah super hot
Co-Worker: she spilled a milkshake in her purse as she boarded the plane... what kind of fat bastard carries a milkshake around in her purse
Gekius: man... thats discusting
Gekius: did she try to drink it out of her purse?
Co-Worker: not, but that would have made it even funnier

The wedding

I just burped... and it tasted like Jack Daniels. Does that make you thirsty? Me too.

Anyway, here are some pics from my sisters wedding this past weekend.

I got to be the MC for the night... I'm thinking of making it a career

We went to a bar in Salem on Saturday night. Me, Jenny, Susan, and the Bride to Be
Apparently, Salem is infamous for witches. Here is myself and the fam (minus dad) checking out the witches memorials

Prior to the rehearsal, we checked out Concord, MA. It was very nice.

Saturday afternoon, we had some awesome hot dogs

Apparently, I'm happy here.

Looks like I'm watching people dance... holla

I think here, I'm doing the Carlton

Chillin in Concord. Dad, Susan, Jenny, Moi

Breakfast the morning after the wedding.. can you see my headache?

The Bewitched Chick is famous in Salem

Open Mouth Smiles all around (except Amanda)

And how can I not include my awesome newly married sister. Congratulations.

C-Champs... what?

This past summer season, the C league team I play on won the championship. We went 14-0. Kind of bad when we win the last game against the 2nd place team 9-1. So what, maybe we were a little stacked, but we are moving up to B League this coming season. Last time we played B, we actually won that one too, but we had a completely different team. Anyway, next season starts in a few weeks... guess I need to do some dry land training to keep in shape.

H20

There is a good chance I might drink too much water during the day. I'm not 100% sure why I do, but I tend to drink at least 80 -100 ounces during my 8 hour work day (then more at night). The downside to this, I typically use the restroom about four to five times a day (TMI?). Towards the end of the day, I'm going to the restroom every hour.

Hydration is very important. I base my hydration on the color of my piss, does that make me crazy. I remember a long time ago, I learned that if it is clear, then you are well hydrated. If it's yellow, you need more water. Does it make me crazy, that I look at the color and determine if I'm ready to do exercise. I try to drink as much water as possible, so that it's always clear. But sometimes external forces (such as beer) inhibit this phenomenon.

Am I crazy... or does everyone do this?

New Idea

Remember back in the day... when Crystal Clear Pepsi came out. It was cool, and I think that Pepsi made a big mistake for removing it from the shelf... but anyway.

Here is my idea... Crystal Clear Beer. Imagine how much easier it would be to sneak it into football games, school, work, and other various places that ban beer. This would make the world a happier place in the long run. Let's make it happen.

Here is a funny note I found on Wikipedia about Crystal Clear Pepsi:

"Initial sales were good, but they quickly fell, making the product fail to generate a profit adequate to warrant continued marketing, since many consumers did not like the taste of it while others thought it was too similar to regular Pepsi to merit sale as a separate product. Pepsi pulled the drink off the market, but returned several months later with a reformulated citrus drink and retitled "Crystal by Pepsi", but this was short lived as well.

Oddly, Pepsi was offering a promotion ("twist-a-cap") in which customers could receive a free Pepsi product if the cap of their drink had a winning symbol. Due to an oversight, a customer merely had to turn the Crystal Pepsi bottle upside down to see if that bottle's cap had a winning symbol. At any well-stocked and participating store, a customer could purchase one carefully-selected Crystal Pepsi and, using the winning cap to repeat the process, walk away with a dozen of them for free."

Busy Busy

Do you ever feel like you always have something to do? Whether it be working out, working, going out, leaving town, or hanging out with friends. I always feel like everything will slow down soon, but I say this every month. And it's not just the going out, it's everything.

Someday it will slow down... right? Then life will be boring.

This is me breathing.

ATX

I was fortunate enough yesterday to be able to make a trip down to Austin Texas to do some recruiting down at the University of Texas at Austin. All in all, it was a long day, but a great trip. I guess after working for three years it's great to go back and see how the school is doing and the up and coming students that could potentially work for us. The 630 am flight was pretty rough, but at the career fair I ran into several old friends from college that I hadn't seen in some time. Always good to catch up.

After the career fair... we made a quick 45 minute trip to Trudy's for Mexican Martinis (I had a beer). Following that we did a presentation to about 15 interesting students about our company. One of the great things about our company is that we are very laid back in some ways, and we conveyed that to them through our presentation I hope.

The flight out was quick and easy, I slept. Today is Thursday. Tomorrow I leave for Boston, Mass to go to my sister's wedding. Should be interesting I hope. Most of the weekend is planned out for me, but hopefully I'll be able to get a run in somewhere while I'm there. I'll be returning Monday afternoon.

Oh yeah, and the Hills is so staged.

Pirate Party

If you thought you had a crazy Thursday night... think again. I went to a Trolley Pirate Party. Beat it.

My Work buddy and I getting things going. I gave him a ride to the first bar, however, i apparently left him at the last bar. I'm so nice.

I'm pretty sure we are all saying ARGHHH in this picture.

Pirates are cooler than you.

Drunks.

Not sure what kind of face i'm making here.

I look like a fool. Love it.

You can call me Leon Phelps... aka the Ladies man.

We used the bathroom at Starbucks. Everyone in uptown thought we were pretty crazy.

I've Seen Better Days

I've seen better days,
I've been the star of many plays.

This is the song that I found myself singing this morning. Last night, well I will use one word to describe it, crazy. I've heard a lot of things happen, most of them I don't really remember. Apparently, I lost my keys (twice), talked to some girl forever and put her number in my roommates phone (no calling her, cus i hear she was rude), dressed like a pirate and yelled Arggh at tons of people, left my buddy from at the bar who left his car at my place, shotgunned a beer, cut my finger and poured vodka on it to make it feel better (fyi, that burns), and lost my phone.

That's right, I'm phoneless at the moment. It's an odd feeling and i wish that it would last forever in some ways. But in other ways, i'm really freaking out. Typically i wake up and check my email through my phone... today, there was nothing. It was as if I was a lost child. Aka, not cool.

I might have a date tonight, we will see. I'm supposed to call the girl on the cell phone that I lost last night. We shall see.

This is me breathing.

Your mommas a drunk pirate

HARDY

My sister tagged me with some really strange blogger game called meme. I'm guessing meme because it's about ME and more about ME. Basically it is supposed to tell you a little about me by using the letters of my middle name.

Brief history of my middle name, way back in the day, there was a man named John Wesley Hardin. He was one of the most famous gunslingers in Texas history. My grandmother tells me that he was one of our great great uncles or something like that. Supposedly the name was changed from Hardin to Hardy to get away from the infamous name of the gungslinger. Pretty cool eh.

And it begins:

H - Hockey is my favorite sport.
A - Active. I love staying active and keeping busy. I rarely have a night where I'm not playing hockey, running, climbing, working, drinking, coaching, or out with friends.
R - Rocky. One of my favorite movie series. I have yet to see the newest one, but it's on my Netflix list.
D - Dogs. I've always wanted a dog. But at the moment I don't have the time. Someday I will.
Y - York of the New. One of my favorite cities. Maybe I'll move there someday.

Today was a good day

I didn't even have to use my AK.

I can barely remember the last time I had fast food (other than chick fil a). This morning in my slightly hungover state... i was really craving a taquito from whataburger. Not sure why. I was very disappointed when i realized i don't know where any whataburgers are in Fort Worth. I get gas... and look up to my right... and low and behold, ORANGE, aka, WhatABurger. What are the odds? I got my taquito and now I'm feeling better.

ARggh...

Dennis A. Paul

When i as in middle school (6th through 8th grade), I had a principal named Mr Paul. Mr. Paul looked very much like Nolan Ryan and was well known for a quote that i believe he created in order to inspire the students every morning. It went something like this,

"Have a super fantastic wonderful day, and remember you have the power within you to make it so, it's up to you. You may now rise for the pledge of allegiance."

It's been well over 10 years since I've heard him actually say it and to this day I remember it. I guess that is what happens after hearing it every school day for three years in a row. I remember his enthusiasm would vary as he said it and he would enunciate different words at some times to get his point across. His emotion was expressed through his voice more than most people. I remember he used to drive a Black Lincoln Town car because it was always parked in the "Principals Spot". I never really knew him, but respected his authority.

He ended up passing away less than a year after I completed the 8th grade. It was strange to think that I was the last to hear that saying for three years in a row. I've spent the last 15 minutes trying to google Mr. Paul and have found absolutely nothing. Google can't find him and neither can Wikipedia. This is probably due to the fact that he passed in 1996 (possibly 97).

So just remember what Mr. Paul used to say, you have the power to do it... so make it happen.

Arggh

Last night I picked up my pirate costume. It's a child size made for kids age 8-10 years old. It actually fits. There must be some really large 8-10 year olds running around these days.

Why did I get a pirate costume you ask? Because next Wednesday is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day". Unfortunately several us will be out of town next Wednesday so we had to move ours to September 13 (since 13 is a very pirate-ey number). We will be having a Pirate Trolley Party that will tour around the uptown area. The Pirate Ship (Trolley) will be loaded with booze, fun people, and more booze. An update on how the ship (party) went down will be available this Friday. hopefully with a few photos.

Girls Girls Girls

I noticed today that one I love to come up with acronym for new girls I meet or want to meet. For instance, the following are a few that come to mind in the past month or so:

CG - Copy Girl -> This is a girl I've never even met. She works at our client and the only time we have ever seen her is making copies, thus she is copy girl. There have been times when we spot her there, my co-worker will print whatever is on his screen just so he can go say hi to her (yes, i know we are lame).

PGG - Potbelly Guitar Girl -> Another girl I have never met, she plays the guitar at the Potbelly's in Fort Worth. She is an amazing singer, plays guitar, cute, and plays at P-bellys... thus she is PGG.

NUCG - No Underwear Cat Girl -> First time (ok so far the only time) we met this girl at a pub crawl, she took our sharpie marker and drew a cat face on herself. It was pretty hot. Last time i heard about her, my friend was out with her and lifted up her wavy dress to be funny... and low and behold, no underwear. Supposedly she laughed... thus she is NUCG.

LCG -Leasing Consultant Girl -> This is a girl i met the other night out in Plano, Tx (very far from typical comfort zone which is South of Mockingbird). Very nice and cute girl. When we got into what we both do, I found out she does consulting. So do i. Crazy. But she does leasing consulting which is a lot different than i thought she meant. It's all good (if she calls back...jk).
