Currently I am working on a high profile energy client that is making its way to becoming one of the premium energy providers. They are acquiring generation, smart people, well renowned traders, and other revenue generating assets. Traders work like crazy and are often somewhat different thinking than your average person. Always figuring out how they can beat the market (which is very doable for these people). So while these people are working hard, their is one guy in the cube next to me, who fails to work hard. We will call him Stan.
Stan is a divorced man with two kids. I know this, because he had a conversation one day with the child support agency in which he screamed into the phone, "I'm not a DEAD BEAT DAD, I've been paying the child support, it's your systems that are messed up." He had this conversation at 2 PM, I'm certain that everyone in a 45 food radius heard this, including his boss.
Apparently he owns a very large house, of which him and his "new wife" live in. His coworkers definitely called him out on that asking why he needs a huge house. He had no answer.
Yesterday, around 5:30 PM, by which time 90% of the office has cleared out, I begin to hear what sounds similar to South Park. I IM my co-worker and ask him to listen, and he confirms it is the night priors episode (Which is highly recommended by me). The sound isn't extremely loud, but h'm 10 feet away from the guys computer and can completely understand what the characters are saying. Not too big of a deal, since it is after hours, but still.
It's 11:15 now, and I just heard him watching South Park... AGAIN! Same volume, no headphones, INSANE. This guy clearly has some job security and doesn't care what people know he is doing.
This guy clearly is not afraid of being fired... and may even be attempting to get laid off, so that he can get severance pay. Job security... awesome.
