The Reverend Mac. I met 7 year ago in an old beat up locker room at the Travis County Expo Center. I had already played one year on Gibb's hockey team. Unfortunately, I didn't get resigned to that team and I was picked up by Fertig's team. It was that year that I met the Reverend Mac. After first meeting him, I asked if he was really a Reverend. "Technically, yes. I'm certified on the internet" he told me. We spent many nights the next couple years playing defense together, killing penalties, winning a championship or two, and drinking cheap beer after the games. Always a good time and the Reverend Mac always had a classic story.
About two years ago, while flying to Montreal for a hockey tournament, I had a layover in Detroit Michigan. I had a few hours to kill, so I decided to go have a beer at the closest bar I could find. There... Reverend Mac was sitting in his infamous black leather jacket. I sat down with him and we caught up over a few beers. Finally we shook hands, and we both went on our ways.
Today, I got an email from Fertig. Apparently, the Reverend Mac's is suffering from liver failure. They are unsure how much longer he will live, but hopefully he pulls through and can get back on the ice.
